Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Skin Tracker (“we”, “us”, “the app”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the app.

1. What we collect

• Account information: email address and authentication credentials. Passwords are stored in hashed form and are not stored in plain text.
• Photos: images that you upload to the app.
• Technical data: IP address, device information (model, OS version, app version), and crash logs.
• Photo metadata: photos you upload may contain embedded metadata, such as date, device model, or location, added by your camera or phone. We do not extract, analyze, index, or use this metadata. It may remain embedded in the stored photo file. You can remove metadata before uploading photos if you do not want it to be stored as part of the file.

2. Why we collect it

• To create and maintain your account.
• To store and display your photos to you.
• To secure your account and protect against abuse.
• To provide customer support.
• To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and maintain app security and reliability.

3. What we do NOT do

• We do not analyze the content of your photos.
• We do not use your photos to train AI models.
• We do not use your photos for advertising.
• We do not sell your photos or your personal information.
• We do not share your photos with other users unless you explicitly choose to do so.

4. Legal basis for processing

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your information under the following legal bases:

• Contract: to create your account and provide photo storage functionality.
• Legitimate interests: to secure the app, prevent abuse, diagnose errors, and maintain reliability.
• Legal obligation: where we are required to comply with applicable laws.
• Consent: where we ask for your permission for optional features.

5. Where your data is stored

Your photos and account data are currently stored on secure servers located in Germany (Frankfurt region).

6. Service providers

We use third-party service providers to operate the app, such as cloud hosting, cloud storage, authentication, crash reporting, and email delivery providers.

These providers process information only on our behalf and only as necessary to provide their services to us. We do not allow these providers to use your photos for their own purposes.

7. Who has access

Your uploaded photos are private to your account and are not visible to other users unless you explicitly choose to share them.

We restrict internal access to uploaded photos to the minimum number of authorized personnel necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, or support the app. We do not access your photos except when necessary for security, support requested by you, legal compliance, or troubleshooting a technical issue.

8. Device permissions

The app may request access to your camera or photo library only when you choose to take or upload photos. You can change these permissions in your device settings.

9. Retention

We store your photos until you delete them or delete your account.

Crash logs and technical data are retained for up to 90 days, unless a longer period is required for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

10. Deletion

You can delete uploaded photos at any time from within the app.

Deleted photos may remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before being permanently removed.

You may also delete your entire account, which will remove your photos and account data, subject to the same backup retention window.

11. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to the processing of your personal information.

12. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and private storage for uploaded photos. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

13. International transfers

Depending on your location and the location of our service providers, your information may be processed in countries other than your country of residence. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

14. Children

The app is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated within the app or by email.
